Week 1 - Mastering. We touch on the all-important process after the mix is complete — so you can start with the end in mind and get clear on the end goal.
Week 2 - Mindset. This is where the core of your new mix mindset kicks off. We’ll show you a unique new approach, following a roadmap that you’ll follow for the rest of the course program, and which you can commit to memory and use to nail all your future mixes.
Week 3 - Mixing Vocals. Comping, gain automation, the lead and background vocal relationships, and common problems — an important skillset to have, even if you’re making instrumental music.
Week 4 - Mixing Instruments. How to mix instruments with competing frequency ranges. When you’re framing your approach by frequencies rather than specific instruments, you learn how to mix literally anything. You’ll learn the difference between clippers and limiters, when to use compression in mixing, and “the power of saved energy” — a trick that every good mix engineer knows.
Week 5 - Enhancement. Using tools like saturation, transient designers and advanced frequency tools to squeeze every last drop of greatness out of your music.
Week 6 - Space. Spatial processing, emotional space, mix narrative, and “guiding the spotlight” — a technique that can transform your mix from great to Grammy winning. Lastly, you’ll bring all of your learnings together for the final mix project.
